March/April 2021 Newsletter
/FROM THE MANAGER
As spring arrives, several great changes continue happening in and around Pearland Regional Airport and we are happy to report that KLVJ is thriving and doing better than ever!
Although Texas has lifted the mask mandate, Pearland Regional Airport is still committed to the health and safety of our visitors and based personnel. Hand sanitizer stations have been added at all entrances and we have installed several air purifiers with UV lights throughout the entire building. The airport will also continue to supply masks for anyone that wishes to wear one and does not already have one.
Thank you to everyone for the smooth transition to our new CTAF frequency on 122.725. We have heard from several of you regarding the reduced radio traffic and to no surprise, everyone is loving it! We are excited to announce that along with the CTAF change, the airport has now partnered with LiveATC and is now broadcasting the CTAF online for anyone to listen from anywhere. LiveATC is a great tool for students learning to use the radio, anyone interested in aviation, or even experienced pilots just wondering what the traffic is like before heading out to the airport. Visit https://www.liveatc.net/search/?icao=klvj for multiple options to tune in through computer browsers, smart phones, and more.
Speaking of great changes, many of you will be excited to learn that beginning May 1 Pearland Regional Airport will begin offering based tenants with Off Airport Access Agreements (OAAAs) and Ground Leases the option to pay fees online! Credit cards and direct bank payments (ACH) will both be available options. Be on the lookout for an email coming soon for detailed instructions on how to get signed up and save time and the hassle of using checks! Also, for any based tenants that may be interested in purchasing a security gate remote, let me know as we only have a few left in stock!
Please note that on occasion, our newsletters will spotlight local companies. If this is something your business would be interested in please do not hesitate to reach out for more details. This month, Air Professionals (Air Pros) have shared some awesome details regarding their Pilot Shop so be sure to check out their article!
As always, feel to reach out with anything that I may be able to help out with and stay safe!
Regards,

NEW FREQUENCY
We have received a new license from the FCC to change our CTAF and UNICOM from 122.8 to 122.725. This will make communication much easier as we will no longer be competing with any airports within a 60 mile radius.
The change will take effect February 25, 2021. Until that date, please continue to use our current frequency of 122.8.
We will be sending a reminder email as the effective date approaches.
FBO UPDATES
Updates are still happening at the FBO and we encourage you to stop in soon to see our new pilot lounge for our transient traffic and a freshly upgraded conference room. Stop by the FBO for more details on how to reserve the conference room for your next meeting.
TENANT SPOTLIGHT
Not every airport in the Houston-Galveston area can claim they have a Pilot Shop you can taxi up to and get your pilot supplies! Once you land at Pearland Regional, finding the AirPro Pilot Shop is simple- exit Alpha 3, then look for the beige and green building under the rotating beacon.
The Air Pro Pilot Shop has been around since 2014. It may be a small shop, but they’re big on providing the pilot supplies you need. The crew at Air Professionals are all pilots so they understand what it takes to keep you flying.
Popular sellers for student pilots are maps, written test review guides, and headset accessories. If you’re an aircraft owner, AirPro stocks cleaning supplies, batteries, tires, filters, and aircraft oil. AirPro even sells professional pilot shirts and epaulets, popular items with our international customers.
Many people are surprised that sectional maps are one of the best sellers. Paper maps are not dead yet! The map update cycle has recently changed in 2021 and reduced to only 56 days. To help you keep up, AirPro has a standing order program with the most current maps, delivered directly to your door.
The AirPro Pilot Shop is both a Sporty and Aircraft Spruce distributor. If they don’t have it in house, they can typically bundle in your items with their daily order. AirPro also has access to distributors located closer to Pearland, which saves on shipping and aircraft down time. Best of all, AirPro can save you the agony of reaching the $350 shipping minimum when you only have a few things to order.
Feel free to check out the AirPro Pilot Shop at the Facebook page. They’re one of the most popular aviation related pages in the Houston area. If you’re not on social media, you can visit their website or better yet, come visit in person. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30-5:30 and Saturdays from 9-3. Call us with any questions at 713-569-3023.
